Privacy policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use the MAUBY website, contact us, reserve a table or buy a gift voucher.
1. Who we are
MAUBY is a bar and restaurant at 1 Harefield Road, Brockley, London SE4 1LW. The business operating MAUBY is responsible for deciding how your customer information is used (the “data controller”).
[Legal name of the business operating MAUBY — to be confirmed by the owners.]
For questions about this policy or your personal information, email hello@maubybrockley.com or write to us at the restaurant address above.
2. Information we collect
- Enquiries: your company/name, email address, comment, correspondence and whether you opted in to marketing. The last-name field and marketing checkbox are optional.
- Reservations: the contact details, party size, date, time and requests you provide through simpleERB, together with booking changes or cancellations.
- Vouchers: details needed to fulfil a voucher purchase or redemption, including purchaser or recipient details supplied through SumUp.
- Website requests: technical information such as your IP address, browser, requested pages and request times may be processed by our hosting and embedded-service providers to deliver and protect their services.
Please do not include payment-card details or unnecessary sensitive information in the enquiry form. Card details required for a booking or voucher purchase are handled through the relevant provider, not the enquiry form.
Allergy or accessibility information can reveal health information. If you share this with us to help arrange your visit, we use it for that purpose and seek explicit consent where required. You can contact us to withdraw that consent; this may limit the arrangements we can make.
3. How and why we use it
- Bookings and vouchers: to arrange and provide the service you request, including taking steps before entering into a contract with you.
- Enquiries, private hire and press: to answer questions and keep useful correspondence, based on our legitimate interest in running the restaurant and responding to people who contact us.
- Security and service administration: to prevent misuse, investigate problems and manage complaints, based on our legitimate interest in protecting our customers and business.
- Legal obligations: to retain or disclose information when needed for applicable accounting, tax or other legal requirements.
- Email marketing: to send restaurant news or offers when you have opted in, based on your consent.
We need the required contact and booking information to respond to you or arrange your reservation. You do not have to agree to marketing to enquire, book or visit.
4. Your marketing choice
The enquiry form records your choice alongside your enquiry. Ticking the box is optional; sending an enquiry or making a booking does not by itself give us permission to send marketing.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe option in a marketing email or contacting hello@maubybrockley.com. This does not affect how we handled information before you withdrew consent, or essential messages about an existing booking.
5. Services we use
Our staff and service providers may handle information where needed to provide these services:
- Bookings on Tap (Insert Robot Ltd): website development, maintenance and support, including handling website enquiries on our behalf.
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security and delivery of enquiry emails.
- simpleERB: the reservation system and associated booking communications and payment services.
- SumUp: gift-voucher purchases and associated payment processing.
- Email providers: delivery and storage of correspondence. Our website support provider currently uses Google Workspace for enquiry handling.
- Google Maps: the embedded map and directions service.
Providers may also process some information for their own purposes, as explained in their privacy notices. Links to Instagram and other external websites take you to services with their own privacy arrangements.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where required by law or where necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
6. Cookies, maps and analytics
This website does not currently use Google Analytics or advertising pixels. The Montserrat font is hosted with the website rather than loaded from Google Fonts.
The booking widget and embedded Google map connect to their providers when loaded. Those providers receive technical information such as your IP address and may use cookies or similar storage. Voucher purchases take place on SumUp’s website.
You can manage cookies in your browser, although blocking them may affect features such as booking. If we introduce optional analytics, we will update this policy and provide the choices required before enabling it.
7. Where information is processed
Some providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK. Where a transfer requires protection under UK data-protection law, an appropriate transfer arrangement must apply, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for details of the arrangements relevant to your information.
8. How long we keep information
Website enquiries are delivered to email rather than saved in a separate website enquiry database. Booking and voucher records are held in the relevant service and in any associated correspondence.
We keep information for as long as needed to answer an enquiry, manage a booking or voucher, resolve a complaint, or meet a legal record-keeping requirement. The appropriate period depends on whether the matter is ongoing, whether a voucher remains valid and whether a legal obligation or claim requires the record.
Marketing contact details are kept while you remain subscribed. After you opt out, a limited record of your preference may be kept so that we do not contact you again by mistake.
9. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access or correct your information, have it deleted, restrict its use, or receive a portable copy. You can also withdraw consent where we rely on it.
You can object to direct marketing at any time. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests because of your particular situation.
Email hello@maubybrockley.com to make a request. We may need to confirm your identity and will normally respond within one month. If an extension is permitted and needed, we will explain why.
10. Keeping information safe
The website uses HTTPS. Access to enquiry and booking information should be limited to people who need it to provide the service or support the restaurant. No online service is completely risk-free, so please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or data-handling arrangements change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.
12. Questions or complaints
Please contact hello@maubybrockley.com if you have a concern. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
